Joining DGSociety

Membership in the DGSociety is decided by a nomination process. Who does the nominating? Advisors, peers, and you.

At the beginning of every academic year, the council holds an official nomination period. During this period, advisors nominate students of intrigue and promise; peers nominate other peers who they think would be a good fit with the society; and interested students nominate themselves.

To be eligible for council membership, a student must meet the following conditions:

•    Must be a current or former Division of General Studies or General Curriculum student
•    Must be in good academic standing
•    Must have an interest in bringing skills and ideas into a collaborative setting
•    Must know how to have a good time

To maintain membership in the council, a student must meet the following requirements:

•    No more than two unexcused absences from meetings over the course of the academic year
•    Participation in one year-long, full-group project and at least one smaller, month-long project
•    Maintain good academic standing

At the end of each year, members will be officially recognized for completing a year in the DGSociety.
