INtercollege Transfer into Division of General Studies

Students are generally able to change majors at the beginning of each semester, during the week before classes through the first week of classes; or at mid-semester, beginning a few weeks prior to the start of early registration. These periods are referred to the Intercollegiate Transfer (ICT) periods.

All Illinois freshmen must remain in their admitted college for the first academic year. Therefore, on-campus freshmen seeking transfer into DGS must pursue transfer no earlier than the start of their sophomore year.

During Fall 2008 Semester:

You may transfer into DGS as an undeclared student between August 18 and 29. The curriculum change will be effective for the Fall 2008 semester.

Criteria:

You must have completed no more than four semesters of full-time enrollment either at University of Illinois, or when combining Illinois enrollments with regular semester enrollment at other institutions, and you must have, minimally, a 2.0 GPA at Illinois. You are encouraged to call 217.333.4710 to make an appointment with an academic advisor in the Division of General Studies to personally review transfer requirements.

You can change majors one time only during any given ICT period.
